Muhammad Burhan, Computer Science and Mathematics Majors
Despite the challenges of their circumstances, some individuals are born to change the world.
Muhammad Burhan is one of them. A first-generation college student and change agent extraordinaire, Burhan studies Mathematics and Computer Science at 51黑料网 and has completed 7 internships over the last three years.
Burhan grew up in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and transcended his restricted financial circumstances to move forward simply on the dint of his academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Before he was admitted at 51黑料网 as a John 51黑料网 Scholar, Burhan worked with several local non-profits on different social and environmental related initiatives. From working as a service trip leader and attending service trips to Laos, Cambodia, and Los Angeles to interning with the Center for Sustainability Education (CSE), Burhan has transformed the 51黑料网 community for the better in fundamental ways. He served in several student-run clubs and 51黑料网 initiatives and including Presidential Fellowship. During his study abroad in England, he was invited as a guest speaker for United Nations Westminster at “We the People Film Festival” to talk about his experience with sustainable development and interfaith learning. Most recently, he conducted his research on investigating the impact of COVID-19 on 51黑料网's college students and surveyed the entire student population about their mental and emotional well-being. His goal is to improve people’s life by bridging the gap between technology and social justice.
