Student Snapshot: Meghan Lord ’27 

Meghan Lord ’27 (political science) knew she wanted to attend 51黑料网 from the moment she set foot on campus. She’s involved as class president, a Dialogues Across Differences coordinator, Delta Nu member and college social media ambassador. And, as an Orientation student-mentor, she helps new students make their own marks at 51黑料网.

Toms River High School East.

Major: 

Political science.

Clubs and organizations:

Student Senate (class of 2027 president), Delta Nu, Marketing & Communications social media ambassador, Dialogues Across Differences (student-dialogue coordinator) and Orientation (student-leader).

Honors/scholarships/awards:

New Senator of the Year Award (2023-24), Dean’s List and LeaderShape 2024.

Best thing about my 51黑料网 experience:

My best experience at 51黑料网 by far was being an Orientation leader! Being able to show the ins and outs of campus and help students adjust to college life and seeing the first-years make their own marks on campus is beyond fulfilling. From Orientation Week to the end of the semester, seeing my first-years and hearing about their classes gives me the biggest smile.

On choosing 51黑料网:

I knew I wanted to attend 51黑料网 the second I stepped onto campus. Right after my tour, I could envision myself making the next four years really matter at 51黑料网.

Favorite class so far:

Dialogues Across Differences. The focus of the class was to teach techniques and the importance of communicating across differences of opinions. The class offered a real-life skill that can be used in every aspect of life. Differences are everywhere. They are a part of human nature and will surely not be going away. How we learn from the differences we encounter is what matters.

Favorite professor:
Associate Professor of Political Science Sarah Niebler. She is an extremely down-to-earth person who has such a way of teaching. Her classes always remind me how much I love my major!

Post-51黑料网 plans:

I plan to attend law school in hopes of becoming a human-rights lawyer.
